KBRN, Yogyakarta: Indonesian women's doubles shuttlers, Lanny Tria Mayasari/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, defeated Malaysian fifth seeds Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan in the second round of Malaysia Open 2025.

Competing at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, Lanny/Fadia won in a fierce three-game match with a score of 19-21, 21-14, 21-13.

“Alhamdulillah (All Praises to Allah), we won in this tough match. In the first game, we were less calm at the final points, too rushed to kill the opponent,” said Fadia after the match as quoted from the official website of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI).

They rose in the second game with a rally game pattern that forced the Malaysian pair to make many unforced errors.

“In the second game, we played more patiently, started to invite rallies, and held back so they ended up making a lot of unforced errors. In the third game, we continued to apply the same pattern, and it worked,” added Lanny.

The pair's success is also inseparable from the team's support behind the scenes. The presence of former national athletes, Nitya Krishinda Maheswari and Shendy Puspa Irawati, who accompanied them as team officials, were an important factor in maintaining their focus and mental game.

“The most important part of our win today is the presence of Nitya and Shendy in the official seats. They always remind us to focus point by point,” Fadia explained.

Lanny also added, “Maybe because both Nitya and Shendy are women, they understand our feelings better.”

With this success, Lanny/Fadia stepped into the quarterfinals and are optimistic to continue giving their best performance.

“We are quite satisfied with today's performance, but we still want to evaluate the match the day after tomorrow. Our performance must improve,” Fadia concluded. ***
