RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The government, through the Ministry of Public Works (PU), has reaffirmed that efforts to meet clean water and irrigation needs will continue until the rainy season arrives. The measure comes as the dry season is forecast to continue through November 2026.

Director General of Water Resources at the Ministry of Public Works, Arnold A. P. Ritiauw, said the government would remain on the ground to address areas still experiencing water shortages.

“The dry season is forecast to continue through November. The government will remain on the ground until the rains return. We will continue addressing the remaining areas one by one,” Arnold said in a press release received by RRI on Monday, October 5, 2026.

In addition to addressing immediate needs, the Ministry of Public Works is also strengthening water infrastructure to improve water resource resilience. The efforts include maintaining and reinforcing dams, reservoirs, and irrigation networks.

Arnold said communities and local governments in need of water assistance can submit requests through the Ministry of Public Works’ regional offices in their respective areas.

The government also expressed its appreciation for the support of various parties in addressing the water crisis, including the Indonesian Military (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and local communities, who have worked together to provide clean water and build water wells in affected areas.

“Water is the most basic human need. The government ensures that every household has access to drinking water and every farm receives irrigation water. The dry season must not prevail over either,” he said.
