RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Sugiono said he would continue and refine programs initiated by his predecessor, Pratikno, while strengthening coordination and orchestration in education, health, and disaster resilience.

"As conveyed by Mr. Pratikno, I am continuing his work at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs," Minister Sugiono said during a handover ceremony at the ministry's office in Jakarta on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, as reported by Antara.

Minister Sugiono said the ministry has a broad mandate because its responsibilities span all stages of life, from birth to death.

According to him, this broad scope of responsibilities is a major mandate that must be carried out effectively. Minister Sugiono pledged to improve and build on programs implemented under Pratikno's leadership.

"I would like to once again thank Mr. Pratikno, who has prepared everything so carefully and so well," he said.

Minister Sugiono said he would continue monitoring a number of key sectors to support President Prabowo Subianto's programs, particularly in education, health and disaster resilience.

He stressed that the ministry plays a strategic role in coordinating, orchestrating and mobilizing ministries and agencies under its supervision. Through that role, he hopes government programs and priorities can be implemented effectively.

"As I said earlier, these are the areas we will continue to monitor to ensure the success of the President's and the government's programs," he said.

Meanwhile, Pratikno, who now serves as chairman of the Presidential Advisory Council, outlined several priority issues for his successor, including post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.

"I have conveyed several agendas to Mr. Sugiono, including coordinating post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in various regions," Pratikno said.

In addition to post-disaster management, Pratikno said he had discussed several education-related initiatives, including free public education, Garuda Excellence Schools (Sekolah Unggul Garuda), and Integrated National Schools.

He added that the ministry also oversees a range of health-related issues, as well as broader human development and cultural affairs agendas that will need to be continued under Sugiono's leadership. ***
