Prabowo Visits Megawati Over Guruh Sukarnoputra's Passing

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto paid a condolence visit to the residence of former Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri in Jakarta on Monday, September 28, 2026. He came to offer his condolences in person following the death of Guruh Soekarnoputra, an Indonesian musician and the son of Indonesia's first president, Soekarno, as well as Megawati's younger brother.

"On Monday evening, September 28, 2026, President Prabowo Subianto paid a condolence visit to the residence of Indonesia's fifth president, Megawati Soekarnoputri, in Jakarta to express his condolences over the passing of Mohammad Guruh Irianto Soekarnoputra,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said in a written statement, as quoted by the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat.

During the mourning period, President Prabowo expressed his condolences and paid his respects to the family of the deceased. The Secretariat said Prabowo's visit was a gesture of respect for Guruh and his bereaved family.

“On the occasion, President Prabowo expressed his condolences and paid his respects to the bereaved family,” Teddy said.

Teddy also offered prayers that Guruh would be granted the best place in God's presence. Prayers were also offered for the family.

"May the deceased be granted the best place in the presence of God Almighty, and may the bereaved family be given strength and fortitude," Teddy said.

Guruh died in Jakarta on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the age of 76. He was buried at Karet Bivak Public Cemetery in Central Jakarta, next to the grave of his mother, Fatmawati.
