Indonesia's State Budget Performance Remains On Track Through August 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia's Minister of Finance, Suahasil Nazara, stated that the performance of the State Budget (APBN) remained strong and credible through the end of August 2026. Suahasil conveyed this during the APBN KiTa Press Conference in Jakarta on Friday, September 18, 2026.

He noted that this robust and credible budget performance is reflected in a persistently positive primary balance, a controlled deficit, and the realization of revenues, expenditures, and financing that remain on track. Suahasil emphasized that the fiscal trajectory is relatively on track.

"Through the end of August, the state budget performance remains strong with a positive primary balance, a controlled deficit, and this means that the budget's progress is relatively on track," Minister of Finance stated.

As of August 31, 2026, state revenue was recorded at Rp2,055.6 trillion, or 65 percent of the target. Meanwhile, state expenditures reached approximately Rp2,295 trillion, resulting in an APBN deficit of Rp240.1 trillion, or 0.93 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Furthermore, state revenues through the end of August grew by 25.4 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. Tax revenues grew by 24.1 percent, while customs and excise reached Rp210.2 trillion, reflecting a 7.8 percent growth. Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) also expanded by 41.7 percent to reach Rp435.1 trillion.

Meanwhile, state expenditures grew by 17.1 percent. Ministries and Institutions (K/L) spending reached Rp912.4 trillion, representing a 33 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

On this occasion, the Minister also highlighted that the state budget continues to perform its function of protecting the public through various programs, including subsidies and compensation, social protection, and support for community purchasing power.

He emphasized that moving forward, the Government will continue to maintain growth momentum alongside fiscal credibility to simultaneously safeguard economic stability, accelerate development, and uphold stakeholder confidence in Indonesia's economy.
