RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The government has allocated the vast majority of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources' (ESDM) 2027 budget toward energy infrastructure development. This infrastructure includes household gas networks, rural electricity, and new electricity connection assistance.
Minister of ESDM Bahlil Lahadalia, stated that out of the Ministry of ESDM's total budget ceiling of Rp27.37 trillion for 2027, approximately Rp22.51 trillion or 82 percent is directed toward strategic programs and infrastructure development. Meanwhile, around Rp3.59 trillion is allocated for operational expenditures and Rp1.27 trillion for non-physical public programs.
"The ESDM Ministry's budget ceiling for 2027 has been set without any changes, as the leadership conveyed, amounting to Rp27.37 trillion," Bahlil stated during a Working Meeting with Commission XII of the DPR RI in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
The government has prepared Rp5.21 trillion to build household gas networks totaling 959,232 home connections, Rp949 billion for the New Electricity Connection Assistance (BPBL) for 400,000 households, and Rp9.32 trillion for rural electricity infrastructure development across 1,250 locations. For communities in regions that have yet to enjoy electricity services, equitable access forms a crucial part of the government's efforts to broaden the benefits of energy development.
Bahlil stated that attention is not solely directed toward disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions. Other villages and hamlets still requiring attention for electricity access are also being prioritized.
"Therefore, we will implement this fairly from Aceh to Papua. However, the proportionality will focus on areas that truly require expedited action," he emphasized.
Commission XII of the DPR RI subsequently approved the Ministry of ESDM's 2027 budget ceiling of Rp27.37 trillion. With this budgetary support, the government is directing energy infrastructure development to expand public services and strengthen the equitable distribution of energy access from Aceh to Papua.
