Indonesia and Automotive Industry Oversee B50 Implementation

RRI.CO.ID, Tangerang Selatan – The Indonesian government is actively collaborating with the automotive sector to monitor the nationwide technical implementation of the 50% biodiesel (B50) program. This vital coordination effort was officially launched by Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Eniya Listiani Dewi in South Tangerang on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Since its rollout on July 1, 2026, the B50 fuel mixture has successfully reached 6,050 gas stations across the archipelago. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources continues to oversee terminal transitions and strict fuel specifications to ensure optimal vehicle performance.

Eniya emphasized that strengthening coordination with the automotive industry remains a crucial part of the B50 implementation process. This statement was conveyed during the opening of the technical socialization forum in South Tangerang.

“Well, one thing’s for sure, we’ll all keep each other informed about any complaints related to the automotive industry. Let’s discuss them, and we’ll keep this forum open. We’ll keep it open so we can all communicate with each other,” Eniya said.

As of mid-September, B50 distribution has covered approximately 94 percent of targeted service stations and 76 supply terminals. The government has set a strict deadline of September 30 for all remaining facilities to complete their operational transitions.

“And it’s coming up soon, September 30 is the deadline for us to implement the relaxation measures. So we really need to finalize all the outreach efforts and activities related to the implementation of B50 ahead of October 1,” Eniya explained.

To maintain high engine reliability, authorities have tightened fuel standards by reducing maximum water content limits and enhancing oxidation stability. Ongoing collaboration with institutions like LEMIGAS and automotive stakeholders will ensure long-term data collection and seamless public integration.
