Indonesia Verifies Over 51,000 Homes After Flores Earthquake

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has verified 51,591 homes after the Flores earthquake. The magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, on Saturday, 15 August 2026, affecting seven regencies.

The verified homes represent 50.39 percent of 102,384 houses initially recorded for assessment across affected areas. The latest results include 2,382 severely damaged homes, 7,276 moderately damaged homes, and 14,177 lightly damaged homes.

Another 27,756 homes were found undamaged, while verification continues to ensure accurate field conditions. BNPB and local governments are also checking duplicate records, unverified data, and additional houses identified during assessments.

In Nagekeo, 15,929 homes were initially recorded, with 218 severely damaged and 1,523 moderately damaged. The verification also found 3,475 lightly damaged homes and 10,713 undamaged homes, alongside additional reported damage cases.

Manggarai has verified 7,089 of 22,758 initially recorded homes, including 448 severely damaged and 1,262 moderately damaged homes. In East Manggarai, 7,366 of 24,392 homes have been verified, including 1,078 severely damaged and 1,499 moderately damaged homes.

West Manggarai has verified 12,367 of 12,613 homes, including 468 severely damaged and 1,930 moderately damaged homes. Ngada has verified 7,544 of 12,297 homes, including 126 severely damaged and 911 moderately damaged homes.

Sikka has verified 1,001 of 4,248 homes, while Ende has verified 295 of 10,147 initially recorded homes. BNPB and local governments are matching verified records with population data to ensure accurate beneficiary information.

BNPB is also assisting local governments in conducting post-disaster needs assessments and rehabilitation and reconstruction plans. The process runs alongside verification, helping Indonesia map recovery needs from validated damage data and identify eligible housing assistance recipients.
