TNI AU Deploys 220 Troops to West Kalimantan for Forest and Land Fire Responce

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Air Force, through Muljono Air Force Base, supported the deployment of 220 personnel from the 538th Territorial Development Infantry Battalion (Yonif TP 538/PTA Prabu Tawang Alun) in Banyuwangi to West Kalimantan. It aims to accelerate forest and land fire response efforts.

The troop deployment was carried out using an Indonesian Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft from the Juanda Naval Air Base apron in Surabaya on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

The deployment was aimed at providing additional personnel to support forest and land fire response efforts in West Kalimantan.

Commander of Muljono Air Force Base, Colonel Wisnu Aji Prabowo, said the airlift support was part of the base's role in supporting forest and land fire response operations.

“This airlift support is part of Muljono Air Force Base’s role in supporting forest and land fire response efforts. We are ensuring that the entire troop deployment process is carried out safely, orderly, and smoothly, so that the personnel can immediately carry out their duties in the operational area,” Wisnu said.

The use of the military transport aircraft enabled the troops to be deployed rapidly from Banyuwangi to the operational area in West Kalimantan. The Indonesian Air Force’s airlift support is part of efforts to accelerate the deployment of personnel and strengthen forest and land fire response operations in affected areas.

Through the deployment, the Indonesian Air Force is also ensuring that the troops can reach the operational area safely and smoothly and immediately carry out their duties in support of forest and land fire response efforts in West Kalimantan.
