RRI.CO.ID, Ende - National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) increases support for earthquake survivors in Ende, East Nusa Tenggara. The agency focuses on safety, temporary housing, and recovery assistance.

BNPB chief Suharyanto visited survivors in Peozaka Ramba Village on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. During the visit, he urged residents to remain alert while aftershocks continued in the area.

“Do not enter damaged houses until they are declared safe by authorities,” he told survivors as quoted from BNPB press release.

The agency also prepares assistance based on different levels of housing damage. Lightly damaged houses receive Rp15 million, while moderately damaged houses receive Rp30 million.

Severely damaged houses will receive support through permanent housing construction from government. Survivors can meanwhile receive Rp600,000 monthly or occupy temporary government housing.

He then urged Ende authorities to accelerate accurate and accountable damage assessments. Verified data will determine assistance and reconstruction for affected households.

BNPB also distributed logistical assistance and supplies to survivors at evacuation locations. Suharyanto said government support would continue throughout emergency response and recovery.

A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Flores on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Residents in Peozaka Ramba Village evacuated after several houses sustained damage.
