RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has placed Indonesia’s long-term economic resilience at the center of his agenda, unveiling three major initiatives: Indonesia International Financial Center (PFII), Danantara Development Management Fund (DDMF), and the construction of a Giant Sea Wall along Java’s northern coast.

Speaking at the opening plenary of the House of Representatives’ 2026–2027 session in Jakarta on Friday, August 14, 2026, President Prabowo said that the three projects are designed to strengthen the nation’s economic foundation while safeguarding its future.

He emphasized that PFII will serve as a new hub for global capital and financial services. “PFII will become the new face of our financial centers," he said in his speech, as quoted on the Ministry of State Secretariat official website.

"Jakarta, and possibly Bali, will host world-class institutions for finance, investment, fintech, arbitration, and commercial dispute resolution,” he continued, adding the PFII framework will include advisory councils, regulatory bodies, financial courts under the Supreme Court, and arbitration institutions.

President Prabowo stressed that PFII will offer competitive facilities such as tax incentives, golden visas, and streamlined licensing, while maintaining strict governance standards. “We are building PFII so that global capital finds certainty in Indonesia, the best talent works in Indonesia, and transactions on Indonesia’s wealth are resolved in Indonesia,” he asserted.

President Prabowo also introduced DDMF, a sovereign wealth instrument to finance strategic projects beyond the reach of short-term commercial investment. DDMF, he said, is an instrument to prepare, develop, and finance long-term strategic projects that cannot yet be funded by short-term commercial investment and should not burden the state budget.

"Through DDMF, Indonesia’s sovereign fund will be invested with discipline and professionalism, for example, in our national car project, which we plan to mass-produce by the end of 2028,” he said.

Equally urgent, President Prabowo highlighted the need to protect millions of residents and industries along Java’s northern coast from rising sea levels. “Our giant sea wall on the north coast of Java must be built immediately," he said.

"It will be a protective belt for millions of people, saving tens of thousands of hectares now sinking under the sea. It must also serve as clean water infrastructure, a new growth corridor, and an engineering project that builds our national capacity,” he declared.

The project, expected to take 15-20 years, will be divided into 15 segments stretching from Banten to East Java. “Whatever happens, we must dare to begin. This concerns the livelihoods of tens of millions of our people in Pantura," he assured.

"We must remember how much of our industry is located along the north coast. The future of our industry is also at stake,” President Prabowo concluded.

By framing PFII, DDMF, and the giant sea wall as interconnected pillars, President Prabowo positioned Indonesia’s transformation as both economic and structural -- anchoring financial certainty, sovereign investment, and climate resilience in one long-term vision for national progress. ***
