RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has launched the Saraya Baruna Ananta Victim Assistance Fund (DBK), a new program designed to ensure that victims of sexual violence receive the compensation they are entitled to.

The fund strengthens compensation payments for restitution that perpetrators are unable to fulfill and provides sustainable financial support for victim recovery across Indonesia.

LPSK Chairman Achmadi said the program was officially introduced as part of the agency’s 18th‑anniversary commemoration. He noted that the initiative is a concrete implementation of Article 35 of Law No. 12/2022.

“Victim recovery cannot be achieved solely through law enforcement. Victims need ongoing support to fully resume their social roles,” Achmadi said in Jakarta on Friday, August 7, 2026.

He added that all funds are managed through a transparent and accountable grant mechanism, with cash assistance distributed directly to victims or their heirs.

“The LPSK manages the Victim Assistance Fund transparently, monitors it independently, and reports it periodically. Funds are distributed directly to victims or their heirs through an accountable mechanism,” he said.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, expressed his support for the program. The initial funding commitment, collected through telephone outreach, has reached approximately IDR 200 billion.

“I’ve contacted several institutions and individuals. IDR 200 billion has been collected,” Dasco said.

As of Thursday, August 6, 2026, the LPSK had received 1,159 requests for protection related to sexual violence, including 937 cases involving child victims.

From January to June 2026, restitution for sexual violence crimes was assessed at IDR 14.12 billion. Perpetrators have paid only IDR 87.69 million of the IDR 1.86 billion in court‑ordered restitution.

LPSK Deputy Chairperson Sri Nurherwati said the victim assistance fund is a crucial instrument for recovery, strengthening victims’ access to comprehensive support services.

“Through the Victim Assistance Fund, we want to ensure that no victim loses their right to recovery simply because the perpetrator is unable to fulfill their restitution obligations,” Sri Nurherwati said. (Misni Parjiati)
