RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Forestry keeps on strengthening its commitment to preparing the younger generation as key drivers of Indonesia’s carbon economy and forest sustainability. Indonesia’s Vice Minister of Forestry, Rohmat Marzuki, made the statement while opening the fourth Youth Talk Take Action (YTTA 4) event, themed "Youth for Carbon Future: Preparing the Younger Generation to Become Green Talent Driving Indonesia’s Carbon Economy", which was held virtually on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

In his keynote speech, the Vice Minister stated that, amid a new era of forestry development in which carbon has become a strategic and sustainable commodity, investing in high-quality human resources is the government’s most important priority.

"The success of this policy will not be determined solely by regulations, technology, or investment, but by the quality of the people who manage it. Therefore, our greatest investment is not only in carbon, but in the people who are capable of managing carbon sustainably. This is where the role of the younger generation becomes essential," Vice Minister Rohmat Marzuki conveyed as quoted by kehutanan.go.id.

He further stressed that, under the theme "Youth for Carbon Future," the future of Indonesia’s carbon sector will depend on the quality of young talent being developed today. Growing up with digital technology, creativity, and strong environmental awareness, Indonesia’s youth represent one of the nation’s greatest assets as it capitalizes on its demographic dividend on the path toward Golden Indonesia 2045.

"The carbon economy is not merely a policy instrument; it also creates a wide range of new career and business opportunities for young people. Going forward, we will need more Green Talent—young people with integrity, competence, and innovation—to serve as carbon project developers, analysts, verifiers, consultants, and active participants in carbon trading," he said.

In his report, Acting Head of the Ministry of Forestry’s Human Resources Extension and Development Agency (BP2SDM), Indra, stated that through the Center for the Development of the Forest Conservation Generation (PUSGENRI), the Ministry has systematically built a nationwide ecosystem for youth development.

Indra conveyed that, to date, the Ministry has nurtured at least 5,652 members of the Forest Conservation Generation (Genries) through various flagship youth development programs, including Youth Talk Take Action (YTTA), Bestari Rimba, Forest Youth Entrepreneurship, Forest Youthverse, and Saka Wanabakti.

These initiatives also reflect the commitment and direction of Minister of Forestry, Raja Juli Antoni to continue providing opportunities for collaboration and meaningful action, enabling young people to become the main drivers of Indonesia’s forestry transformation toward achieving Indonesia’s FOLU Net Sink 2030 and Golden Indonesia 2045.
