RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Three of Indonesia’s leading national parks -- Bromo Tengger Semeru (TNBTS), Komodo, and Mount Rinjani -- have officially been granted the status of Work Units with a Public Service Agency Financial Management Model (PPK-BLU).

With this new status, the parks have greater flexibility in managing revenue from tourism and environmental services. Funds can be used directly to improve visitor facilities, strengthen area protection, and support conservation programs without lengthy budget bureaucracy.

Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni said the policy is crucial for professional conservation management. He emphasized that financial flexibility is not profit-oriented but ensures all revenue is reinvested in preserving the parks.

“We want national parks to be financially independent, so that communities, tourists, and conservation areas can directly benefit,” Minister Raja Juli said on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

In addition to granting BLU status, the Ministry of Forestry is strengthening conservation funding through the National Park Innovative Financing Task Force.

The task force is developing sustainable financing schemes, including strategic partnerships and optimizing environmental services, so that management is not entirely dependent on the State Budget (APBN).

Director General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation (KSDAE) at the Ministry of Forestry, Satyawan Pudyatmoko, said BLU status allows park managers to act more quickly, including meeting operational needs and improving visitor services.

“In the next six months, the Ministry of Forestry will finalize technical regulations so that the new scheme can be implemented optimally,” he said.

The ministry aims for the three national parks to become models of conservation management that balance nature preservation, public services, and financial independence. (Misni Parjiati)
