RRI.CO.ID, Banyuwangi - Indonesia launched a community radio station to support Red and White Village/Subdistrict Cooperatives (KDKMP). The initiative was introduced in Banyuwangi, East Java, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
The community radio was initiated by the Banyuwangi Red and White Cooperatives Association. It aims to improve communication between cooperative managers and local communities.
Head of the Republic of Indonesia Communication Agency, Muhammad Qodari, said the station would become a platform for sharing cooperative information. He said residents could also monitor cooperative activities and public services more easily.
"This is a community radio that is expected to become a medium for exchange. Not only cooperative administrators, but also the public can follow the development of cooperative activities." he said.
Qodari said the radio could help people access daily information on product prices and goods available at Red and White Cooperatives. He added the government would develop a mechanism to expand the initiative to other regions.
"Later, we will consider the mechanism so it can grow, and hopefully it can be replicated in other places." he added.
Chairman of the Banyuwangi Red and White Cooperatives Association, Imam Maskun, said the radio would strengthen communication between cooperatives and local communities. The online platform will provide daily updates on staple food prices, public services, and interactive information through radiomerahputih.com.
