RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is stepping up efforts to protect children through the National Safe and Supportive Spaces for Children Movement (Gerakan Nasional Ruang Aman dan Nyaman Anak/RANA), a cross-ministerial initiative aimed at fostering a healthier and more competitive future generation. The program places child protection at the center of the country's long-term human capital development strategy as Indonesia works toward its Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.

The commitment was outlined by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno during a press briefing on updates to the government's National Priority Programs on Wednesday July 22, 2026. He said Indonesia is implementing a wide range of policies designed to ensure inclusive human capital development while strengthening the country's global competitiveness.

"The government has many programs to prepare resilient and highly capable human resources. We are ensuring that no one is left behind, while at the same time developing globally competitive talent," Pratikno said. He added that the National Safe and Supportive Spaces for Children Movement reflects the government's view that children's well-being encompasses not only physical health, but also mental, social, and spiritual development.

According to him, the initiative focuses on creating safe environments across four key areas: families, educational institutions, public spaces, and the digital sphere. The government is also encouraging the public to actively prevent and report all forms of violence against children through the reporting channels established by relevant authorities.

During the same briefing, Vice Minister of Religious Affairs, Romo H.R. Muhammad Syafi'i reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to supporting the initiative through faith-based education and community engagement. He said the Ministry of Religious Affairs is mobilizing its extensive network of madrasahs, Islamic boarding schools, religious organizations, and places of worship to strengthen child protection efforts nationwide.

"The Ministry of Religious Affairs has developed specific programs involving all religious guidance directorates to promote proper religious understanding among parents, communities, and children," Syafi'i said. He added that the ministry is leveraging the support of 96 religious organizations and millions of places of worship to advance the national movement for safe and supportive spaces for children.

Beyond community outreach, the ministry has strengthened child protection regulations, expanded digital reporting mechanisms, reinforced violence prevention task forces, and promoted child-friendly madrasahs and Islamic boarding schools. Orientation programs for new students and boarding school entrants also include education on preventing bullying and physical or sexual violence.

Through closer coordination among ministries, educational institutions, religious organizations, and local communities, the government aims to create safer environments for children both offline and online. Officials believe this integrated approach will help safeguard children's rights while nurturing a healthy, resilient, and globally competitive generation for Indonesia's future.
