RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Governor and Deputy Governor of the University of the Republic of Indonesia (URI) at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Donny Ermawan Taufanto was appointed Governor, while Yos Sunitiyoso assumed the position of Deputy Governor under Presidential Decree Number 80/P of 2026.

As quoted by the president's official webpage, the inauguration included an official oath-taking ceremony led directly by President Prabowo before invited state officials. "I will remain faithful to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and faithfully implement all laws and regulations in the truest manner, in devotion to my nation and state," President Prabowo declared while administering the oath.

Following the ceremony, Donny Ermawan said establishing the University of the Republic of Indonesia was part of the government's commitment to improving human resources. He said the initiative aimed to prepare future Indonesian leaders through education at multiple levels.

Donny further conveyed that the government planned to integrate existing educational institutions and development programs into a unified framework. He said the initiative included the Garuda Excellence School, the establishment of ten Universities of the Republic of Indonesia, and integration of the National Institute of Public Administration.

"All of this is related to education, guidance, and preparation of the future manpower. Both for the government and state-owned enterprises," the URI Governor said.

He also announced plans to establish the National Education Management Agency under the authority of the URI Governor. According to the Governor, the agency will oversee the Excellence School Management Agency, the Higher Education Management Agency, and the National Institute of Public Administration.

He explained that the National Institute of Public Administration would expand its responsibilities beyond developing civil servants. The institution will also provide education and professional development programs for employees of State-Owned Enterprises.

He added that human resource development efforts had already begun through the President's Program for Future Leaders. The program currently trains 399 newly recruited employees from State-Owned Enterprises to become capable professionals prepared to serve the nation.
