RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Government is positioning the Red and White Village/Subdistrict Cooperatives (KDMP/KOPDES) as the main distribution hub for government assistance and subsidized programs. The policy was announced during the National Seminar on Red and White Village/Subdistrict Cooperatives in Jakarta on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

Coordinating Minister of Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, said the policy would strengthen public services at the village level. He said various government assistance programs would be distributed through KDMP.

He explained that social assistance, food aid, and agricultural support would be centralized through the cooperatives. He said the decision had been approved during a cabinet meeting led by President Prabowo Subianto.

"All government assistance will go through KOPDES. It was decided last night. What does that include? Government assistance includes the 10-kilogram social food assistance, the Family Hope Program (PKH), cash assistance for Deciles 1 and 2. All of these will go through KOPDES. Then SPHP rice, government food assistance rice, agricultural equipment, tractors, and everything else will also go through KOPDES," the Minister said.

He added that subsidized financing would also be integrated into the cooperative network. The measure aims to create a single village-based distribution system for government support.

"Government-subsidized loans must also go through KOPDES. Do you agree? A round of applause for President Prabowo. Any government assistance and every subsidized program will all go through KOPDES," he added.

Zulkifli Hasan also said the government targets around 35,800 Red and White Village/Subdistrict Cooperatives to be established with appointed managers by August 31, 2026. Once cooperative outlets begin operating, subsidized goods and government assistance will be immediately available for rural communities.
