Central Java Expands Rural Development Through TMMD

RRI.CO.ID, Cilacap - Indonesia is expanding rural development through the Indonesian Military's Integrated Village Development Program (TNI Manunggal Membangun Desa or TMMD) program to improve infrastructure and economic access in remote villages. The initiative was launched in Cilacap, Central Java, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

The program is being implemented simultaneously across all 35 regencies and cities in Central Java until August 13, 2026. It combines infrastructure development with community empowerment to improve living standards in underserved areas.

Central Java Vice Governor, Taj Yasin Maimoen, said TMMD prioritizes villages with limited accessibility and development needs. He emphasized that rural roads are essential for supporting local economies, especially farming communities.

"We carry out TMMD in areas that still need support, especially remote regions with limited access. The roads being built are rural economic roads that will benefit farmers," he said.

Taj Yasin said the program reflects the Indonesian government's commitment to bringing public services and infrastructure closer to rural communities. He added that cooperation between the military, police, and regional governments is essential for equitable development.

The 2026 program receives support from the Central Java Provincial Government and local administrations. It also integrates food security, sanitation, housing rehabilitation, healthcare, and environmental conservation initiatives.

In Bingkeng Village, the program will construct an 800-meter road, a bridge, and retaining walls to improve connectivity. It also includes housing rehabilitation, tree planting, free healthcare services, entrepreneurship training, and family welfare programs.

Taj Yasin said TMMD has demonstrated strong collaboration between the Indonesian military and local communities for more than four decades. He stressed that advancing villages is a key step toward improving national prosperity.
