RRI.CO.ID, Nusantara - A Chinese foreign investment company, PT Star Bright International Investment, has officially begun construction of a Rp1.25 trillion integrated development project in Indonesia’s new capital, Nusantara (IKN). The investment marks the first construction project in IKN to be implemented by a foreign direct investment (FDI) company, highlighting growing international confidence in Indonesia’s new capital city.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place at Sub-WP 1B of the Government Core Area (KIPP) in Nusantara on Wednesday July 15, 2026. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026 and represents another significant milestone in attracting international investment to the future capital.

Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, said the project occupies a strategic location at the heart of the government district. He noted that the development reflects the steady progress of the core administrative area, which will serve as the center of Indonesia’s future government.

“This is a very special location. From here, we can see the State Palace as well as the judicial and legislative complexes that are currently under construction. We aim to complete the entire government district by 2028,” Basuki said.

Built on a 15,501-square-meter site, the integrated development will feature apartments, restaurants, retail outlets, and office space. The complex will also include supporting facilities such as a swimming pool, fitness center, commercial areas, and green open spaces, all designed in line with Nusantara’s sustainable development principles.

President Director of PT Star Bright International Investment, Lu Keming, expressed optimism about Nusantara’s future as Indonesia’s new capital. He said his experience witnessing cities develop from the ground up gives him confidence that Nusantara will become an attractive destination for global investors.

“I have witnessed cities being built from empty land, and I believe Nusantara will become a beautiful city because it is being developed from the very beginning. Our team from China is also interested in investing in the hospitality and tourism sectors,” Lu Keming said.

In addition to Chinese investment, the project involves contractors from East Kalimantan as part of efforts to empower local businesses and stimulate regional economic growth. The participation of a South Korean investment company, along with business delegations from several Chinese enterprises and organizations, further underscores growing international confidence in Nusantara as an emerging destination for global investment.
