RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto expressed his condolences on the passing of Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who served as Emir of Qatar from 1995 to 2013.

The President conveyed his message while signing the condolence book at the Qatari Embassy in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, according to the official website of the State Secretariat.

President Prabowo arrived at the embassy at around 12:40 p.m. Jakarta time, where he was welcomed by Foreign Minister Sugiono and Qatari Ambassador to Indonesia Sultan bin Mubarak Saad Al-Dosari.

He then proceeded to the condolence book signing room to deliver his message. In his written note, the Head of State expressed deep sympathy and offered prayers for the late Sheik Hamad.

“On behalf of the people and government of the Republic of Indonesia, I express my deepest condolences on the passing of His Highness the Amir, Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. May Allah, the Most High, grant him the most beautiful place by His side,” the President wrote.

The President’s presence at the embassy reflected Indonesia’s respect for Sheik Hamad’s passing and underscored the longstanding friendship between Indonesia and Qatar.

Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the age of 74. He served as Emir of Qatar from 1995 to 2013 before being succeeded by his son, Sheik Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. ***
