RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said Indonesia’s tourism sector has continued to show a positive trend throughout 2026, reflecting resilience amid global challenges.
“Cumulatively, from January to May 2026, Indonesia recorded 6.07 million international tourist arrivals, a 7.68 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025,” Minister Widiyanti said during a press conference at the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) office in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
She noted that international tourist arrivals in May alone reached 1.38 million, up 5.83 percent from May last year.
“This growth is driven by the Ministry’s strategy to strengthen near- and medium-range markets,” she said, adding that the initiative aims to sustain momentum in tourist arrivals.
Domestic tourism has also continued to rise this year. In May, domestic tourist travel grew 8.69 percent year-on-year.
Minister Widiyanti emphasized that the government will maintain this momentum by improving connectivity and enhancing the quality of tourist destinations. “Through stronger connectivity, better destination quality, event organization, and more targeted promotion,” she said. (Gusti Panji)
