RRI.CO.ID, Situbondo - The Indonesian government is accelerating infrastructure development to strengthen interregional connectivity and stimulate economic growth.

One strategic project is the Prosiwangi Toll Road (Probolinggo–Situbondo–Banyuwangi), which is expected to shorten travel times in East Java and create new investment opportunities.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka underscored this commitment while inspecting construction progress in Suboh Subdistrict, Situbondo Regency, East Java, on Friday, July 10, 2026.

He emphasized that infrastructure development must deliver tangible benefits to the community, including improved transportation access and stronger regional economies.

“The government continues to push for the completion of various national strategic projects so that the community can feel the benefits immediately,” VP Gibran said, as quoted by Antara.

He hopes that the Prosiwangi Toll Road will strengthen connectivity in East Java, enhance competitiveness, and open more opportunities for investment and employment.

The toll road is designed as a vital part of the Trans-Java network, linking Jakarta to Banyuwangi, the gateway to Bali.

Once running, the Probolinggo–West Situbondo section is expected to cut travel time to about 1 hour and 15 minutes. When the entire Prosiwangi Toll Road is completed, travel from Probolinggo to Banyuwangi will take around 3 hours, significantly shorter than the current 5 hours.

State-owned toll road operator PT Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwantono reaffirmed the company’s commitment to completing the project by prioritizing quality, safety, and good governance.

“Jasa Marga continues to accelerate completion of the Prosiwangi Toll Road to support the national development agenda. We ensure every stage of construction prioritizes quality, safety, and sustainability, while also providing added value to the community through local employment and regional economic development,” he said.

The government hopes that with improved connectivity, the Prosiwangi Toll Road will streamline logistics, increase competitiveness, and support equitable development in East Java’s easternmost regions. ***
