RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Strengthening digital security is a crucial prerequisite for transforming national healthcare services, as the use of electronic medical records and integrated health data expands. Without a reliable cyber system, disruptions to hospital digital infrastructure could interrupt services and even endanger patient safety.
To support this effort, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) is enhancing human resource capacity in healthcare facilities through cybersecurity training to protect the national healthcare digital system.
The training was conducted during a seminar and workshop titled Fortifying the Digital Hospital: National Standards‑Based Cybersecurity Strategy Towards the Transformation of Indonesian Healthcare Services, held on July 8–9, 2026, at the University of Indonesia Teaching Hospital (RSP UI).
“Disruptions to hospital information technology systems are no longer just administrative incidents. They are real threats that can directly impact patient safety,” said Deputy for Cybersecurity and Cryptography at BSSN, Sulistyo, on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
Sulistyo noted that protecting digital assets in healthcare facilities is increasingly important, as public health data is now integrated via the Ministry of Health’s SATUSEHAT platform. Strengthening information security governance, he said, must be part of the healthcare sector’s digital transformation.
BSSN also highlighted the importance of using licensed software. Based on its monitoring, about 56 percent of cybersecurity anomalies in the healthcare sector are triggered by malware linked to pirated software.
The agency further encouraged healthcare facilities to establish Cyber Incident Response Teams to handle breaches more quickly and pledged technical assistance to institutions that form such teams.
RSP UI President Director Ari Kusuma Januarto welcomed the collaboration with BSSN, stressing that medical data is highly sensitive and that IT integration must be accompanied by adequate cybersecurity standards.
During the event, BSSN, in collaboration with Cisco Systems Indonesia, provided training for hospital leaders and IT personnel on digital system protection strategies, compliance with national regulations, and strengthening information security governance.
BSSN emphasized that cybersecurity regulations form the foundation for protecting health data, from implementing encryption standards and regulating access rights to developing integrated incident‑handling procedures.
By strengthening human resource capacity and governance, BSSN hopes the national healthcare ecosystem will be better prepared to face cyber threats amid accelerating digital transformation. (Misni Parjiati)
