RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is strengthening collaboration between the infrastructure and creative economy sectors to encourage innovation, improve competitiveness, and support sustainable economic growth. The initiative reflects the government's effort to integrate architecture, interior design, and construction into a broader development strategy.

The commitment was highlighted during the opening of IndoBuildTech Expo 2026 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City in Tangerang on Wednesday, 8 July 2026. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, attended the event, which brought together more than 400 exhibitors from the construction, architecture, and interior design industries.

Agus said infrastructure development should go beyond expanding physical assets by delivering projects that are smarter, more inclusive, and beneficial to communities. “We want infrastructure that improves people's lives, allowing farmers and fishermen to become more productive and prosperous. It's not about building more, but building better, building smarter, and building for everyone,” he said.

He said collaboration between infrastructure and the creative economy is becoming increasingly important as architecture and interior design play a greater role in shaping sustainable and people-centered development. He noted that innovation in these sectors can improve the quality and long-term value of national infrastructure projects.

Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, said IndoBuildTech Expo 2026 provides an important platform for strengthening Indonesia's creative economy ecosystem, particularly in architecture and interior design. He said both subsectors have strategic potential to support downstream industries based on local creativity while expanding market opportunities for Indonesian creative products.

“The Ministry of Creative Economy is committed to strengthening the architecture and interior design subsectors so they can make an even greater contribution to national economic growth. We hope IndoBuildTech Expo 2026 continues to serve as a platform for collaboration, innovation, and new business opportunities,” Riefky said.

The ministry continues to work with professional organizations, including the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI) and the Indonesian Society of Interior Designers (HDII), to enhance professional capacity, strengthen the creative ecosystem, and develop internationally competitive designs. The exhibition also connects designers with building material manufacturers to encourage innovation and increase the value of locally developed products.

Director of PT Debindo International Trade & Exhibitions, Rafidi Iqra Muhammad, said IndoBuildTech has evolved into a meeting point for government institutions, industry associations, businesses, and innovators seeking to advance Indonesia's construction sector. By bringing together the entire industry value chain from manufacturers and architects to contractors, designers, and end users the exhibition is expected to generate new investment opportunities and reinforce the global competitiveness of Indonesian construction and creative industries.
