RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia's Ministry of Transportation, through its Directorate General of Sea Transportation, has expressed support for the implementation of the Green and Smart Port Initiatives (GSPI) ASRI 2026 program as part of efforts to accelerate the transformation of the country's ports, improve logistics efficiency, and strengthen food security.

Director General of Sea Transportation, Muhammad Masyhud, said the program, organized by the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs in collaboration with PT IDSurvey (Persero), is expected to strengthen the role of ports as key hubs in the national logistics distribution network.

"The Ministry of Transportation fully supports this initiative as it also promotes a new image of ports as places that are ASRI (Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful). At the same time, the Directorate General of Sea Transportation's role as an assessor is intended to encourage port operators to meet green and smart port indicators," Masyhud said in an official statement received in Jakarta on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

He said the program forms part of broader efforts to improve supply chain efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and ensure the smooth distribution of food supplies across regions to help maintain stable food availability and prices nationwide.

The GSPI ASRI assessment is based on the Green and Smart Port Guidelines 3.0/2023, with an evaluation weighting of 80 percent for Green Port criteria and 20 percent for Smart Port criteria. The assessment focuses not only on compliance with national and international regulations but also encourages the adoption of standards that go beyond regulatory requirements.

Deputy for Trade and Food Distribution Coordination Tatang Yuliono said port transformation is a fundamental element in strengthening Indonesia's national logistics ecosystem.

Meanwhile, David Sidjabat, Chief Operating Officer of PT IDSurvey (Persero), said GSPI reflects the company's commitment to supporting the national transformation agenda through sustainability-oriented certification.

The Green and Smart Port Initiative ASRI recognizes ports that have undergone the Green and Smart Port assessment process and demonstrated a commitment to implementing sustainability principles and digitalization in the port sector. The program is also expected to serve as a benchmark for other ports to enhance their sustainability performance and digital transformation, supporting the strengthening of Indonesia's National Logistics System and national food security.
