RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesia's Ministry of Health respects the ruling of the Constitutional Court. In the ruling, the Constitutional Court rejected all petitions filed by Dharma Pongrekun, the Petitioner, against several articles concerning the management of extraordinary events (KLB) and epidemics, including provisions regarding the early warning system, reporting obligations, and law enforcement in epidemic management.

The Head of the Ministry of Health's Communication and Public Information Bureau, Aji Muhawarman, stated that the Constitutional Court's ruling strengthens the Indonesia's government. "Managing KLB and epidemics requires a swift, coordinated, and evidence-based response," Aji Muhawarman said in a press statement in Jakarta on June 30, 2026.

He explained that this is part of implementing public health protection efforts in a measured manner and in accordance with legal provisions. "The Constitutional Court's decision confirms that the government's measures to protect the public have a clear legal basis and remain within the constitutional framework," Aji said.

He added that the Ministry of Health will continue to ensure that all policies for handling outbreaks and epidemics are implemented professionally, transparently, and accountably, involving experts, medical personnel, academics, and relevant stakeholders. "We also ensure that public participation remains open. Public criticism and input are an important part of strengthening national health policies," he said.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Health emphasized the importance of public participation in the early warning system through a mechanism for reporting health conditions that have the potential to develop into public health threats. This is considered part of rapid detection and early response efforts to protect the wider community.

The Ministry of Health will continue to strengthen its public health surveillance, preparedness, and response system. This is useful in addressing various potential health threats, including infectious diseases and other health emergencies.
