RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is accelerating the development of the GovTech platform, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based digital government system, as part of public service reform. Ahead of full implementation, pilot projects are being expanded to ensure optimal integration of public services.
“The President (Prabowo Subianto) will launch GovTech nationwide in October,” said Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Chair of the Committee for the Government’s Digital Transformation Acceleration, after attending a meeting on the digitization of social assistance at the Ministry of Home Affairs headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Luhut said GovTech pilot projects are currently running in 43 regencies and cities, with evaluation results expected by the end of July. He emphasized that GovTech does not merely digitize government services but also integrates AI technology to improve decision-making and public service effectiveness.
He added that the President has instructed GovTech to become one of the government’s top priorities. “A digital-based government, but one that is even more advanced with AI support,” he said.
Luhut revealed that eight ministries and agencies have integrated data processed using AI. System security has been strengthened through oversight by the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) to protect government data.
He noted that several regions, including Surabaya, have shown positive progress in implementing GovTech. Based on this, the government is opening opportunities to expand pilot projects to more regencies and cities before the nationwide launch.
Luhut also highlighted that all software within the GovTech ecosystem is developed by Indonesian talent. The integration of approximately 27,000 applications owned by ministries and agencies is expected to end fragmentation in government digital services and improve bureaucratic efficiency.
Meanwhile, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian said local administrations support the acceleration of GovTech implementation. He noted that the plan to expand the pilot program was based on results in Banyuwangi, which showed improved targeting in the distribution of social assistance. ***
