RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives’ Commission VII, Evita Nursanty, has called for stronger provisions on utility supply guarantees in the Industrial Parks Bill.
She emphasized that industry players require assurance of a sustainable energy supply to support operations and enhance the competitiveness of national investments.
Evita noted that utility issues remain the primary concern raised by industry players during official visits and meetings with the House.
“It’s not just about the availability of gas, electricity, water, and telecommunications. The most important thing is whether the supply is reliable,” she said during a Working Committee meeting on the Industrial Zones Bill with the Ministry of Industry’s Directorate General of Industrial Resilience, Regional Development, and International Industrial Access (KPAII) in Jakarta on Monday, June 29, 2026.
She stressed that the sustainability of energy supply is critical to maintaining industrial operations across various zones. “Are the prices competitive? This is what matters most, because they also need sustainability,” she added.
Evita explained that many industry players continue to complain about inconsistent energy supply in several industrial zones, which hampers productivity and reduces investor interest.
She urged the government to include guarantees of sustainable utility supply in the bill, arguing that such provisions are essential to protect industrial zones and provide certainty for investors.
In addition to utilities, Evita highlighted the importance of strengthening competitiveness through modern governance and legal certainty. She hopes that the Industrial Parks Bill will serve as the foundation for building a more competitive industrial sector in Southeast Asia.
Meanwhile, Commission VII lawmaker Putra Nababan urged the government to involve local communities in the proposed National Industrial Parks Council (DKIN). He argued that communities surrounding industrial parks must be included in decision‑making to support more inclusive development.
Putra described the establishment of the DKIN as a positive step toward overcoming sectoral ego in industrial park management. “However, I do not see any elements in the council that involve local communities,” he said.
He pointed out that the academic paper accompanying the bill emphasizes the importance of local community participation. Therefore, he argued, communities must be accommodated within the institutional framework. (Gusti Panji)
