RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, inaugurated the Mini LNG Plant of PT Sumber Aneka Gas in Tuban, East Java, on Thursday, June 25, 2026. This encourages the utilization of natural gas to add value to the national economy.
He said that the presence of the Mini LNG Plant is not solely assessed by the size of the investment, but rather by its contribution to meeting national energy needs. According to him, the facility produces various energy products, ranging from LNG, LPG, CNG, to condensate, which are part of the national energy mix strategy.
"I see this as a real achievement by a company that is done to meet our domestic needs. Moreover, it produces LNG, LPG, condensate, and CNG. This is a form of energy mix in reducing our LPG imports," Bahlil said.
The Mini LNG Plant PT Sumber Aneka Gas is a gas processing facility that produces LNG, CNG, LPG, condensate, and is planned to produce liquid CO₂. The gas supply comes from the Sumber Field owned by PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Tuban East Java with a volume of 15 MMSCF per day until 2035.
The facility has an LNG production capacity of up to 55,300 tons per year, supported by a storage tank capacity of 1,600 cubic meters. Additionally, the plant is also capable of producing 9,800 tons of LPG per year, 19,600 barrels of condensate per year, and 21,000 tons of liquid CO₂ per year.
Minister Bahlil also directed the gas supplier, PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Tuban East Java, to support the sustainability of this project until the contract is completed in 2035. "Please support it. Don't let it get stuck for 2 years, that's not allowed." People have already made a big investment, so keep supporting it, hold on to that contract, don't change the contract so that they have certainty in making investments in the future," he said.
All production from the Mini LNG Plant will be absorbed by the industrial, retail, and power generation sectors in the regions of Java, Bali, and Sulawesi. The infrastructure being built is also designed to support a land-based LNG supply chain, making energy distribution more efficient.
