RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's Ministry of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, held a meeting with the Pacitan Film Room. It was held at the Ministry of Creative Economy Office in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

The meeting discussed the development of the Horror Film Festival (FFH), organized by the Pacitan Film Room in collaboration with the Pacitan Regency Government. It is as a platform for appreciation and strengthening the Indonesian film ecosystem.

The Minister of Creative Economy Indonesia's Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, believes that FFH has great potential to develop the first horror-themed film festival in Indonesia. Even, it is also as a platform for talent incubation and a driving force for the creative economy.

He believes that Indonesia's rich cultural heritage and diverse folklore are sources of inspiration with high economic value for the national film industry.

"Indonesia is so diverse and unique in its culture that horror stories are like a new gold mine. The Ministry of Creative Economy is ready to collaborate with FFH and its partner ministries to further establish a benchmark, enabling this year's FFH event to rise to the next level," the Minister said.

This potential was reflected in the inaugural FFH in 2025, which successfully attracted 285 films across three categories: general, student, and exhibition.

According to a released received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the festival also boasted a strong character, being held in the coastal area of Pancer Door Beach and several strategic locations in Pacitan. This concept differentiated FFH from other film festivals in Indonesia.

This year, FFH 2026 carried the theme INDIGO: Seeing the Unseen. Reading the Forgotten. Building the Future. The series of activities will run from June to September 2026, with the culminating night or awards ceremony scheduled for September 9–12, 2026.

Pacitan Regent Indrata Nur Bayuaji stated that FFH has had a positive impact on the region, both economically and in developing other creative activities. He stated that the festival serves not only as a competition but also as a meeting place for filmmakers and the community.
