RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The government has prepared an economic stimulus package worth IDR 26.34 trillion to maintain public purchasing power, strengthen the business sector, and mitigate the impact of global economic uncertainty in the second half of 2026.

The measure is part of the government’s strategy to sustain national economic growth amid geopolitical pressures and global market fluctuations.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said the stimulus was a direct directive from President Prabowo Subianto to boost domestic consumption, support industry, and maintain social and food stability.

“The government will announce the economic stimulus in the second semester. Most of it has been discussed in coordination meetings and is also a directive from the President,” Minister Airlangga said at a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Office on Monday, June 22, 2026, as quoted on the ministry’s official website.

The stimulus package is divided into three main pillars, comprising eight policies.

The first pillar focuses on boosting public consumption and maintaining business activity. One policy is a tax incentive for writers, offering a special final income tax rate of 1.5 percent on royalties.

The government is also providing transportation incentives during school holidays and the Christmas–New Year period. These include a 30 percent discount on train and Pelni ship tickets, exemption from ASDP port service fees, and a 100 percent government‑funded VAT subsidy (DTP) for domestic economy class airline tickets.

To support industry, the government has imposed a zero percent import duty on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for the petrochemical and plastic raw material industries.

This aims to reduce production costs and stabilize consumer goods prices. Import duties on aircraft spare parts have also been reduced to zero percent to support the aviation and aircraft maintenance (MRO) industries.

The second pillar focuses on strengthening employment and improving workforce quality. Starting in July 2026, the government will implement the second phase of the National Internship Program, targeting 150,000 university graduates with a budget of IDR 4.14 trillion.

Additionally, a vocational training program worth IDR 2.12 trillion will enhance job skills for 220,000 vocational high school graduates and 50,000 laid‑off workers, preparing them to reenter the workforce.

The third pillar aims to strengthen the social safety net through food aid. Beginning in July 2026, the government will distribute 10 kilograms of rice to 33.24 million beneficiary families for three months, at a total cost of IDR 17.54 trillion.

The government is also preparing a soybean price-stabilization and food-supply aid program for tofu and tempeh producers. Assistance of up to IDR 2,000 per kilogram will be provided for an initial quota of 250,000 tons in areas where soybean prices exceed the Reference Purchase Price (HAP).

Minister Airlangga said the total stimulus budget for the second half of 2026 consists of IDR 2.04 trillion for transportation incentives, IDR 6.26 trillion for internships and vocational programs, and IDR 18.04 trillion for food assistance. ***
