RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has distributed recovery assistance for the repair of lightly and moderately damaged houses worth about USD 5.86 million (Rp93.75 billion) to 4,400 households affected by severe flooding and storms caused by Cyclone Senyar in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh.

The first installment of third-stage of assistance was ceremonially handed over by the National Disaster Management Agency Head Lt. Gen. TNI Suharyanto to community representatives at the Aceh Tamiang Sports Hall, Karang Baru District, on Monday, 22 June 2026.

BNPB Head Suharyanto said the assistance is part of the government’s post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction program implemented through BNPB to help residents return to safe and livable housing.

"The funds handed over to the people must be used in accordance with the provisions and purpose, namely for house repairs, not for anything else," Suharyanto said in an official statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.

Of the total USD 5.86 million (Rp93.75 billion) disbursed in this phase, about USD 2.39 million (Rp38.25 billion) was allocated for 2,550 households with lightly damaged houses, while about USD 3.47 million (Rp55.50 billion) was given to 1,850 households with moderately damaged houses.

According to Suharyanto, the government will continue the distribution in the next phase after the funds already received by residents are properly utilized.

"If the assistance distributed in June has been fully used, then in July we will distribute the next phase of assistance," he said.

He also urged beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly so that the recovery process can proceed smoothly and other affected residents waiting for assistance can receive their rightful assistance.

Previously, BNPB had distributed housing repair assistance in two stages. In the first stage, about USD 2.63 million (Rp42.06 billion) was provided to 2,804 households with lightly damaged houses and about USD 4.38 million (Rp70.11 billion) to 2,337 households with moderately damaged houses.

In the second stage, BNPB distributed about USD 2.19 million (Rp35.04 billion) to 2,336 households with lightly damaged houses and about USD 3.23 million (Rp51.66 billion) to 1,722 households with moderately damaged houses.
