PLN CEO Reports Java Power Recovery to President Prabowo

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - State-owned electricity company PT PLN (Persero) President Director Darmawan Prasodjo met with President Prabowo Subianto to report on the national electricity situation. Darmawan arrived at the Presidential Palace at 11:55 a.m. Jakarta Time on Monday, June 22, 2026.

Before meeting the President, he provided an update on efforts to address the electricity situation following rolling blackouts on Java. Darmawan apologized to the public for the disruptions.

“We would like to apologize to the public for the inconvenience caused by those rolling blackouts. Once again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience experienced last week,” he said during a press briefing at the Presidential Palace Complex.

Darmawan confirmed that the power system on Java has been restored to minimize blackouts. “The primary energy supply, which meets the specifications required by power plants, both PLN’s and those owned by our partners, began flowing last week,” he said.

He explained that the disruption was caused by issues at two power plants, prompting PLN to deploy repair teams. “Last night, one major power plant was successfully restored. It has been synchronized with the Java grid and has begun supplying electricity,” he said.

Darmawan expressed appreciation for government support in resolving the issue. “In particular, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, specifically Minister Bahlil Lahadalia,” he said.

He added that PLN will improve the management of the primary energy supply chain and strengthen power plants, both those owned by PLN and operated by Independent Power Producer (IPP) partners.

“We are making an all‑out effort 24/7, including monitoring activities. We are mapping out all our efforts so that the reliability of the electricity system in Java can be maintained and even improved,” said Darmawan.

Accompanying Darmawan in the meeting with the President were PLN Director of Generation Management Rizal Calvary Marimbo and Director of Technology, Engineering, and Sustainability Edwin Nugraha Putra. (Gusti Panji)
