RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Ministry of Creative Economy has reaffirmed its support for strengthening Indonesia’s intellectual property (IP) ecosystem with the inauguration of the Butter Baby Store and Exhibition Space at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (SHIA) in Tangerang, Banten.

Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya said Butter Baby is more than a culinary brand, as it builds sustainable stories and characters. “They offer an innovative experience that fosters a creative economy ecosystem spanning the culinary arts, storytelling, design, and branding,” Minister Riefky said on Friday, June 19, 2026.

He emphasized that the Ministry is committed to supporting the growth of local IP so it can serve not only as a source of national pride but also as a global champion.

At the inauguration, Butter Baby unveiled an iconic chrome installation standing 8 meters tall and weighing 7.5 metric tons. The installation symbolizes the high-value economic asset that local IP in the culinary sector represents.

Its placement at the international gate of Terminal 3 is considered strategic, serving as a representation of Indonesia and welcoming millions of passengers from across the country and abroad each day.

Riefky noted that Butter Baby had proposed creating an IP for Indonesia last year. “This IP was carefully prepared not only to be a staple at home, but was also designed from the outset with a ‘go global’ concept. Here we witness Indonesia’s cultural journey collaborating with global tastes,” he said.

Butter Baby is an original Indonesian IP character that combines cuisine, music, storytelling, design, and branding. The brand has expanded rapidly after opening three outlets in major shopping centers, paving the way for entry into international markets.

The Ministry continues to encourage collaborations that support IP owners in producing creative works and products. These efforts aim to develop the creative sector as a new engine of national economic growth, create jobs, and attract investment.

Butter Baby founder Henry Burch said the IP exists thanks to the creativity and support of Indonesian society. “The Butter Baby character is a butter alien from Butterlandia who landed in Jakarta to find a new source of butter to save his planet,” he explained.

Henry stressed that this creative journey began in Indonesia and is now heading toward the global market. “Thank you for the support that made this IP a reality,” he said. (Gusti Panji)
