Govt Pushes AI to Enhance Economic, Social Benefits

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, emphasized that artificial intelligence should be harnessed to strengthen the real economy and improve public welfare.

She highlighted the use of AI in the digitization of social aid and in supporting the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector as concrete examples.

Minister Meutya said that implementing this digitalization would represent the largest and most sustainable use of AI, predicting it could become the biggest application of AI in Southeast Asia.

“If this program goes according to plan, it will be one of the largest digital inclusion programs in the region,” she said in an official statement in Jakarta on Friday, June 19, 2026.

She explained that the digitization of social aid will reach around 18 million beneficiary families, targeting an estimated 50 million recipients across Indonesia. By using AI, the government can manage and analyze recipient data more accurately, enabling faster, more precise, and more efficient verification, updates, and decision-making.
