RRI.CO.ID, Surabaya - Indonesia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah welcomed 375 returning Hajj pilgrims at Surabaya Hajj Dormitory. The arrival took place in Surabaya, East Java, on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

The pilgrims were members of flight group SUB-56 and came from several East Java regions. They included Surabaya, Malang, Sidoarjo, Gresik, and Lumajang.

Their return marked the first use of integrated immigration clearance technology for Surabaya Debarkation pilgrims. The system uses biometric verification to simplify arrival procedures.

Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, praised the discipline shown by pilgrims throughout their journey. He also expressed appreciation for Hajj officers from various institutions.

“We highly appreciate the discipline of the pilgrims who returned with their groups remaining intact. We also extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to all Hajj officers who worked hard and tirelessly in synergy to provide the best services for the pilgrims,” he said.

The minister explained that this year’s return process integrated the Immigration Seamless Process Corridor Gate innovation. The system was initiated by Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration.

The technology uses iris recognition to match passenger data with official flight manifests. Pilgrims can complete immigration checks more quickly and comfortably through the automated system.

“When pilgrims pass through the corridor gate, they only need to hold their passports. Their biometric data is automatically read and recorded without manual passport stamping,” he added.

The minister hopes pilgrims return as Hajj Mabrur and Mabrurah after completing their worship. He said stronger faith, social awareness, and better conduct reflect the ministry’s Tri Sukses vision.
