Govt Strengthens Higher Education Access Through National Data

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology is strengthening cooperation with Statistics Indonesia (BPS) to improve the use and integration of data to support broader access to higher education. The initiative was discussed during a meeting between Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Brian Yuliarto and Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti on Tuesday, 16 June 2026.
The meeting focused on several strategic agendas, including the synchronization of higher education data with national socio-economic data. Both institutions also explored the use of the National Socio-Economic Single Data System (DTSEN) to support higher education programs.
Minister Brian Yuliarto, affirmed that accurate and integrated data serve as a crucial foundation for developing higher education policies. He said that data-driven policies will help create a more inclusive and impactful education system.
According to the minister, expanding access to higher education requires accurate and reliable data. He added that closer collaboration with Statistics Indonesia would ensure that policies are aligned with the needs of communities across the country.
The two institutions also discussed the use of DTSEN in verifying prospective recipients of educational assistance programs. The initiative is expected to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of higher education aid distribution.
In addition, both sides reviewed efforts to align Gross Enrollment Ratio data for higher education institutions. The synchronization is expected to provide a more comprehensive picture of public access to higher education in Indonesia.
During the meeting, BPS Head Amalia Adininggar, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting the education sector through the provision of high-quality and up-to-date data. She noted that reliable data play an important role in shaping effective public policies.
Through this collaboration, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening data-based governance in higher education. The effort is expected to support a more inclusive, adaptive, and impactful higher education system for Indonesian society.
