RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto formally welcomed German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in a state ceremony at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday, June 15, 2026.

The solemn event featured mounted guards, elementary school students waving Indonesian and German flags, and traditional Jakarta cultural performances.

President Steinmeier’s motorcade entered the palace grounds under cavalry escort, greeted by festive displays along the route. Upon arrival, the two leaders exchanged greetings before proceeding with the official ceremony. Honor guards were assembled, and the national anthems of Germany and Indonesia were played, accompanied by a 20-gun salute.

Following the ceremony, both presidents inspected the honor guard and greeted schoolchildren who had joined the welcome. President Prabowo then introduced members of his cabinet, including senior ministers and officials, before the leaders moved to the Credentials Room for bilateral talks.

The Indonesian delegation included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, and State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.

Other key officials included Downstreaming Minister and Danantara CEO Rosan P. Roeslani, Foreign Affairs Minister Soegiono, Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Minister Mukhtarudin, Indonesian Ambassador to Germany Abdul Kadir Jaelani, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The meeting marked the start of a series of bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation between Indonesia and Germany across strategic sectors, highlighting both nations’ commitment to deepening ties and expanding collaboration. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
