RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Two flagship digital initiatives of Indonesia’s Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Rumah Pendidikan and the Bug Bounty Award, have been named Champion Projects at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2026. Organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the awards recognize projects that make significant contributions to sustainable development through information and communication technologies.
According to a statement released by the ministry in Jakarta on Thursday June 11, 2026, the achievement positions Indonesia among the countries leading the development of secure, inclusive, and large-scale Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). Both initiatives are part of the Learning Digitalization Program, one of the President’s Quick Win Programs in the education sector.
Rumah Pendidikan is Indonesia’s national education super app, integrating a wide range of educational services into a single digital ecosystem. Meanwhile, the Bug Bounty Award is an ethical hacking and cybersecurity initiative that encourages public participation in identifying and reporting vulnerabilities within the country’s digital education infrastructure.
Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’tii, said the recognition demonstrates that Indonesia’s digital transformation in education has gained international acknowledgment.
“This recognition proves that Indonesia’s digital education transformation is not merely a technology agenda, but a national commitment to ensuring that every student, wherever they live, has access to quality education,” he said.
He added that through the Learning Digitalization Program, the government is building an educational foundation that is not only relevant to Indonesia’s needs but also offers valuable lessons for the global community. The initiative was designed to address pressing educational challenges, including low literacy outcomes and learning loss resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The WSIS Prizes 2026 involved a highly competitive selection process. Out of 1,596 projects submitted from around the world, only 360 nominations were selected across 18 WSIS Action Line categories. During the public voting stage, the competition attracted approximately 2.2 million votes globally.
Abdul Mu’ti expressed appreciation to teachers, students, and members of the public who have supported Indonesia’s digital education transformation. “Indonesia has proven that our educational innovations are recognized by the world,” he said. Although both initiatives have secured Champion Project status, they will continue to compete in the final judging round before the winners of each category are announced at the WSIS Forum 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland, on July 9, 2026.
