RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) has organized a Conflict Zone Reporting Workshop for journalists and media professionals. It is as part of its efforts to improve the competence and preparedness of media personnel assigned to high-risk areas.
The workshop, themed "Synergy Between the Indonesian Air Force and the Mass Media to Enhance Journalists' Competencies in Carrying Out Assignments in Conflict Areas," was officially opened in Jakarta on Thursday, June 11, 2026. It is attended by dozens of journalists representing various media platforms.
Head of the Indonesian Air Force Information Service, First Marshal I Nyoman Suadnyana, stated that the workshop reflects the strong synergy between the Air Force and the media in strengthening journalists' capabilities to carry out reporting assignments in conflict zones while prioritizing safety and security.
"We will provide participants with insights into the actual conditions in conflict areas, the psychological challenges they may face, and risk mitigation measures. We will also discuss how journalistic activities can be conducted in conflict zones while maintaining the highest standards of safety," Nyoman conveyed.

He explained that the instructors involved in the program come from various professional backgrounds, including personnel from the Indonesian Air Force's Rapid Action Force (Pasgat) and field psychologists with extensive experience serving in conflict-prone regions.
According to him, understanding psychological conditions is one of the key competencies journalists must possess. The pressures and dynamics encountered while reporting in conflict areas are significantly different from those experienced during routine assignments.
"We hope that this workshop will provide valuable benefits to all participants. At least, it will help them understand the psychological conditions they may encounter in conflict zones, which are certainly different from reporting in normal environments," he said.
In addition to improving participants' professional competencies, the workshop also serves as a platform to bolster collaboration between the Indonesian Air Force and the media in supporting the delivery of accurate, balanced, and responsible information to the public while maintaining a strong focus on safety in the field.
