RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's Ministry of Creative Economy is strengthening its collaboration with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) to expand the foundation of more comprehensive and accurate national creative economy data. Strengthening data is a crucial step in formulating policies that are more precise, adaptive, and impactful on economic growth and job creation.

This was discussed during a meeting between the Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, and the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. The meeting covered strengthening statistics on the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) value of the creative economy, exports of goods and services in the creative economy, the development of the Indonesian Standard Classification of Industrial Fields (KBLI) for the creative economy, and support for the implementation of the 2026 Economic Census.

"We appreciate the ongoing collaboration with BPS as our most strategic partner, so that statistical data can serve as the government's basic capital in building its foundation. Going forward, policies cannot be built based on assumptions, but must also be based on strong, accurate, and relevant data, so that every intervention is well-targeted," Teuku said.

The two institutions also discussed expanding the scope of creative economy activities in the 2025 Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI) to accommodate the ever-evolving development of business models, technology, and creative activities. Teuku assessed that the creative economy sector plays a crucial role in creating jobs, strengthening the middle class, and increasing Indonesia's competitiveness in the global market.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, stated that the creative economy sector continues to grow and has a strong inclusive impact on Indonesian society. She is committed to continuing to develop creative economy statistics, including expanding the recording of digital and service-based economic activities.

Moreover, the results of strengthening creative economy data and statistics will be a crucial foundation for supporting the implementation of the 2026 Economic Census and the formulation of national economic policies that have a greater multiplier effect. "Certainly, BPS and the Ministry of Creative Economy must collaborate so that the direction of creative economy policies will be more solid if they have a foundation based on comprehensive statistical data produced by BPS, leading up to the golden moment of the 2026 Economic Census," Amalia said.
