RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Jakarta Provincial Government has just closed the Jakarta Future Festival or JFF 2026. Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno, affirmed the importance of collaboratively designing Jakarta’s future together with residents.

The JFF 2026 was officially closed by Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno at Graha Bhakti Budaya, Taman Ismail Marzuki, on Sunday, June 7, 2026. He stressed that this three-day festival was not merely a forum for discussion, but also a reminder that Jakarta’s future must be shaped by prioritizing collaboration with residents.

Under the theme Jakarta’s Forecast: Navigating Five Centuries of Jakarta, Rano noted that on June 22, 2027, Jakarta will mark its 500th anniversary. He also stressed that this historic milestone should not become a distant ceremony, but rather be present and felt directly by the broader public.

“We don’t want Jakarta’s 500th anniversary to be a grand, glittering stage that’s disconnected from residents’ daily lives. We want this commemoration to be close to residents’ hearts. Therefore, historical exhibitions, for example, shouldn’t be confined to museums alone. They must also be present in the nooks and crannies of Jakarta’s neighborhoods,” Rano said.

In line with this, Founder of Jalin Indonesia, Hilmar Farid, also shared his reflections on the implementation of JFF 2026. He emphasized that the festival must not remain merely a ceremonial event, but must become a vibrant space for dialogue, where ideas and critiques are truly heard. Hilmar also stressed the importance of concrete follow-up actions after the festival.

Hilmar explained, “We certainly don’t want the Jakarta Future Festival to end with just an activity report, cool photos, and a well-written report. Our task, that of the partners, Jalin Indonesia, Karsa City Lab, Urban Knowledge Hub, and all partners involved in this festival, is to ensure that the ideas, critiques, and recommendations that emerge are treated as material for more serious consideration."

Furthermore, in the coming weeks, all partners will consolidate the notes, critiques, and recommendations from various panel discussions and workshops. The formulated ideas will be tested at the Jakarta Innovation Days this coming October. After that, in November, these ideas are expected to be brought forward and implemented during the Development Planning Deliberations at the Neighborhood Association level.
