RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Veronica Tan emphasized that efforts to assist women and children who are victims of violence must also safeguard their right to education. She urged local administrations to strengthen protection services and ensure that child victims can continue attending school.

She encouraged regional administrations to make use of the Non-Physical Special Allocation Fund (DAK) for Women’s and Children’s Protection Services to maximize support for victims.

“Regional administrations should utilize and apply for Special Allocation Funds (DAK) to strengthen protection services for women and children. Adequate budgets are crucial for better treatment and recovery,” Veronica Tan said during a visit to the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) for the Protection of Women and Children (PPA) in North Sulawesi Province and the Manado City UPTD PPA on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

She stressed the need for budget support to improve facilities, infrastructure, and recovery services for victims of violence. She also underscored the importance of ensuring that child victims continue to have access to education.

“We must ensure that child victims continue to receive an education. If returning to formal school is not possible, homeschooling can be an alternative so they don’t drop out and can keep learning,” she explained.

Veronica also highlighted the importance of collaboration between central and regional administrations in addressing cases of violence against women and children. In Manado, she discussed strengthening victim support and recovery with Mayor Andrei Angouw and his team.

“Collaboration between local administrations, UPTD PPA, and community service institutions must be reinforced to ensure protection and recovery for victims. Every victim must also have access to ongoing education as an essential part of fulfilling their rights,” she added. (Misni Parjiati)
