RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas announced that 700 dual nationals have applied for Indonesian citizenship, with several documents already signed and forwarded to the president for approval.

“There are now 700 new applications to become Indonesian citizens. I just signed three or five documents addressed to the president,” Minister Supratman told reporters at the Ministry of Law in Jakarta on Friday, June 5, 2026.

He noted, however, that the citizenship process still requires verification by the State Intelligence Agency (BIN). Once completed, the documents will return to the Ministry of Law for further processing before submission to the president.

“After BIN verifies the documents, they will return to the Ministry of Law for processing before being submitted to the president. Next, I will prepare a cover letter as part of the citizenship application process that applicants must go through,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Director of State Administration at the Directorate General of General Legal Administration (AHU), Dulyono, revealed that the number of registered applications currently stands at 727. Of these, 430 have been processed, while the remainder are undergoing verification by BIN and the State Secretariat.

“Of the total, 430 applications are complete; 141 are being processed at BIN, and 24 at the State Secretariat. The process at the State Secretariat means BIN has responded to 105 applications,” Dulyono said.

He added that some applicants must revise their submissions because they used inappropriate provisions. The Ministry of Law has requested that these applicants resubmit their applications in accordance with applicable regulations. (Misni Parjiati)
