Prabowo Says MBG Program Drives Village Economy and Creates Millions of Jobs

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto affirmed that the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) aims not only to improve the nutritional quality of Indonesian children, but also serves as a driver of village economies and creator of millions of jobs across Indonesia.
He said that the operation of MBG kitchens will create a high demand for local agricultural, livestock, and fishery products, thereby improving the welfare of grassroots communities.
"If these programs run correctly, it means the economy in the village will thrive. Farmers will see an increase in their income. He will not be disturbed by middlemen. He can get a guaranty for his products, his hard work can be absorbed, can be bought," Prabowo conveyed while attending the event Building Indonesia's Future Generations Thru Nutrition in Sentul, West Java, Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
The Head of State explained that the government aims for the MBG program to reach around 83 to 85 million beneficiaries, supported by 30 thousand service kitchens spread across various regions of Indonesia.
According to the President, the scale of the program will create a large number of job opportunities, both thru formal employment and economic activities that grow in rural areas.
"We can feed 83 to 85 million. Thirty thousand kitchens are running properly and well. We can create one and a half million formal jobs and perhaps another one and a half million real jobs in the rural economy." Three million jobs," he said.
The event was attended by more than 12,000 participants, including Heads of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Offices (KPPG), Regional Coordinators of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG), Heads of SPPG, and thousands of partners implementing the Free Nutritious Meal Program from various regions in Indonesia.
