RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia marked Pancasila Day on Monday June 1 by reaffirming the state ideology's role in preserving national unity and contributing to global peace. The commemoration was held through a joint flag-raising ceremony involving the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology in Jakarta.

Held under the theme “Pancasila, the Unifier of the Nation and the Foundation of World Peace,” the ceremony highlighted the importance of cultural diversity in strengthening Indonesia's social cohesion. Government officials said the event served as a reminder of the country's commitment to pluralism amid growing global challenges.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, said Pancasila was born from the founders' recognition that Indonesia could only thrive through unity. He described the ideology not only as the country's constitutional foundation but also as a guiding framework for national development.

“Indonesia has passed through colonialism, ideological conflicts, economic crises, and increasingly complex geopolitical challenges. Pancasila was created not only as the foundation of the state, but also as the glue that binds the nation together and safeguards Indonesia's sovereignty,” Fadli said.

The minister noted that Indonesia's long history and vast cultural diversity have shaped values of tolerance, mutual cooperation, and coexistence. He argued that these principles remain central to the country's identity and continue to inspire the implementation of Pancasila in modern society.

Fadli also emphasized Indonesia's commitment to an independent and active foreign policy under President Prabowo Subianto's administration. At the same time, he said the government is strengthening national resilience through programs focused on food security, rural development, industrial growth, and social welfare.

According to the minister, these initiatives are designed to ensure that economic progress benefits all Indonesians while remaining rooted in Pancasila's values. He added that human resource development remains a key pillar in preparing the country to navigate global transformations.

Concluding his remarks, Fadli called on Indonesians to continue practicing the principles of Pancasila in everyday life. He expressed hope that the 2026 commemoration would strengthen national solidarity and encourage Indonesia to make meaningful contributions to humanity and world peace.
