RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Milk is part of a healthy lifestyle that supports a strong, intelligent, and high-quality generation. Therefore, increasing national milk production is an important priority.

In commemoration of World Milk Day, observed every June 1, Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health Services at the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture highlighted several efforts to increase national milk production as quoted from its Instagram account @ditjen_pkh, Monday, June 1.

First, accelerating the growth and productivity of dairy cows. It is done through the provision of superior breeding stock, quality feed and improved herd management.

Second, building and modernizing dairy farming facilities for milk processing, cold-chain facilities, and supporting equipment to improve production efficiency.

Encouraging investment in the domestic dairy processing industry is also necessary. It aims to increase the absorption of fresh milk from farmers while strengthening the added value of national milk production.

The other efforts highlighted are strengthening the availability of forage and concentrate feed as well as streamlining market chains and fresh milk distribution systems. The latter results in making milk more accessible to the public, while maintaining quality and ensuring affordable, competitive prices.

Lastly, enhancing farmers’ capacity through training, business development programs, and access to sustainable partnerships is needed for optimal milk production.

With sufficient and high-quality milk production, Indonesia can nurture a generation of children who are healthy, intelligent, and high-achieving. Milk also supports the welfare of farmers and business actors while strengthening national food security.

Happy World Milk Day 2026! Quality milk, healthy generation, strong nation, great Indonesia!
