RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian Air Force Command Region II (Kodau II) continues to enhance the professionalism and operational readiness of its soldiers thru the Kodau II Readiness Exercise II "Sikatan Daya" Fiscal Year 2026. The exercise is designed to hone the unit's capabilities in facing various emergency contingencies during the implementation of Military Operations Other Than War (OMSP).

In a press release received by RRI VOI on Saturday, May 30, 2026, the training held at Baseops Sultan Hasanuddin Air Base, Makassar, on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, featured Search and Rescue (SAR) simulations as well as Air Medical Evacuation Operations (OEMU) to strengthen rapid response capabilities to aviation emergencies.

The training scenario began with a simulated plane crash that required command elements and supporting units to report in stages and deploy forces quickly and in a coordinated manner. In the simulation, SAR helicopters along with soldiers from the Quick Reaction Force Corps (Kopasgat) were deployed to the incident site to carry out the search and rescue mission.

All the victims were then successfully evacuated to the Air Base to receive initial medical treatment at RSAU dr. Dody Sardjoto before being referred to RSPAU dr. Suhardi Hardjolukito for further care.

Simultaneously, elements of the Indonesian Air Force also conducted an Air Medical Evacuation Operation using the C-130 Hercules aircraft from Squadron 33. The simulation included the process of victim repositioning using Air Medical Containers, loading onto the aircraft, and the procedures of engine start, taxi, and takeoff as part of the integrated air medical evacuation mechanism.

The 2026 Sikatan Daya Exercise is an implementation of the Swa Bhuwana Paksa Doctrine in the execution of OMSP, as well as a means to test the readiness, professionalism, and response speed of the Kodau II unit in facing various potential emergencies.

Thru this training, Kodau II hopes that all personnel and supporting elements can improve coordination and readiness in conducting SAR operations and air medical evacuations, so that they can provide a quick, precise, and effective response when facing actual emergency situations.
