RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has expanded seafood export access to China, with 638 fish processing units now cleared by the country’s customs authority as of May 11, 2026.

The move strengthens Indonesia’s position in one of the world’s most lucrative seafood markets.

China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC) approved eight additional processing units on May 11 through a bilateral Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA), following proposals submitted by the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry.

The newly authorized companies include PT Duta Mitra Semesta, PT BPH Global Indonesia, CV Daniel Nathania Fishery, PT Bintang Samudera Pratama, PT Ramantha Kawanua Indonesia, PT Marindo Jaya Maros, PT Jaya Mega Samudra, and PT Zhongyi Supply Chain Services.

Head of the Marine and Fisheries Product Quality Control and Supervision Agency, Ishartini, confirmed the approvals in Jakarta on Sunday, May 31, 2026.

She urged exporters to uphold sanitation standards, hygiene practices, and food safety principles across production chains and facilities. “This is essential to preserve product acceptance and strengthen international trust, which will ultimately enhance competitiveness,” she said, as quoted by Antara.

Indonesia currently exports 1,080 types of seafood commodities to China.

In 2025, shipments reached 491,528 tonnes valued at IDR 17.46 trillion (approx. USD 1.04 billion). Leading export products include frozen squid, eucheuma cottonii seaweed, gracilaria seaweed, frozen ribbon fish, dried eucheuma cottonii seaweed, dried gracilaria seaweed, eucheuma spinosum, frozen leather jacket fish, and frozen croaker fish.

The push aligns with the directive of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, who has emphasized safeguarding product quality to advance Indonesia’s fisheries industry and reinforce its standing in the global free trade market. ***
